For Sale: 33' SLOOP ‘CARRIACOU ISLANDER’

This much admired Islander 30 Mk II was professionally extended by 3.0 ft aft as part of the previous owners preparation for a single-handed passage down the east coast of South America. The yacht has been sailed many hundreds of miles in its new format. The additional length has been found to improve performance while providing a useful lazarette and mounting for goal post equipment. In the present ownership the yacht has been sailed in fair weather among the Grenadine islands only. The policy has been one of continuous improvement and replacement, particularly between 2003 to the present day. It was last hauled out for anti-fouling in January 2010. The yacht is in commission and ready to go.
US$19,000
As of March 24, 2010, the boat is afloat on moorings in Tyrell Bay, Carriacou, Grenada, West Indies. Facilities in Tyrell Bay include a yacht haul-out and various marine services. Yacht survey services are available from Grenada (20 min flight).’

Exclusions & non-operational
The yacht is shown with a white PVC metal framed awning with an aft extension piece which can double as a rain catcher. There is also a spray dodger shown. This equipment can remain if wanted but is not in good condition.
At the time of preparing these details the solar panel was not putting out a charge and the windspeed instrument was not working. Both probably minor electrical faults.
The Balmar alternator works fine but is thought to be far too heavy a unit for the Yanmar. There has been a deal of belt slip as the small engine struggles with the load at low revs. No problem at cruising revs. When the time comes for a replacement a smaller output alternator would be an advantage.
